An easy-to-use 35mm compact zoom
camera with a 2x (35-70mm) lens, red-
eye reduction flash, and automatic film
operation.
Minolta?s Freedom Sightseer Zoom makes
it very easy to own and use a compact
zoom camera. An ideal choice for
travelers, the Sightseer Zoom features
a 2x power zoom lens with precise
autofocusing, automatic film operation,
and automatic flash with red-eye
reduction -- all in a lightweight, take-
anywhere design. It slips easily into a
coat pocket, purse, or fanny pack, and
features a built-in lens cover to
protect the high-quality optics.
The Freedom Sightseer Zoom?s compact, capsule-type design and
light weight make it ideal to take along on vacations, day trips, family outings, picnics,
or just about anywhere you go. It slips easily into a coat pocket, purse, or fanny pack,
and features a retractable lens with a built-in lens cover to protect the high-quality
optics.
The Freedom Sightseer Zoom is extremely easy to use, even for a
beginner. All functions are automatic, allowing the user complete freedom to concentrate
on the subject or scene. Just frame the subject in the viewfinder, zoom in or out for a
pleasing composition, and press the shutter-release button. Family and friends will have
fun taking pictures, and even a stranger will have no problem snapping a shot of your
group positioned in front of a famous landmark
The compact, 2x power zoom lens offers a wide range of picture-taking
possibilities, from the 35mm wide-angle setting which is ideal for photographing
landscapes or groups of people to the 70mm mid-telephoto setting which zooms in close for
great-looking portraits. A convenient zoom lever makes it easy to adjust zoom position
while composing the image in the viewfinder.
The camera?s infrared autofocus system keeps the main subject
sharp from as close as 4.3 feet to infinity at 35mm, and from 5.3 feet to infinity at the
70mm setting. Simply place the autofocus zone on the main subject, press the
shutter-release button partway down to lock the focus, then press the button all the way
down to take the picture.
This feature locks the focus so that the main subject can be
positioned anywhere in the frame. Just place the autofocus zone on the main subject, press
the shutter button partway down to lock the setting, recompose the picture as desired,
then shoot.
The Freedom Sightseer Zoom eliminates flash worries by making all the
flash decisions automatically. Whenever additional light is required, the camera fires the
built-in flash to properly expose the subject. Since there are no settings to make, the
user is free to concentrate completely on the subject. Additionally, if the main subject
is backlit, fill-flash may be selected for proper subject illumination. Plus, a
flash-cancel button is provided for circumstances where the use of flash is not permitted
or desirable.
To reduce the red-eye effect caused by the flash reflecting off the
inside of the subject?s eyes, the red-eye reduction lamp glows to close down the
subject?s pupils before the flash is fired and the picture is taken.
Film worries are a thing of the past with the Freedom Sightseer Zoom.
Simply position the film cartridge and leader, then close the camera back. The camera
automatically sets the DX-coded film speed (ISO 100 or 400), threads the film to the first
frame, advances the film after each shot, then rewinds the film when the roll is finished.
The power rewind function can be activated at any time.
The
convenient self-timer delays shutter-release for approximately 10 seconds after the
shutter-release button has been pressed, allowing the user to set up the shot and appear
in the photo. Countdown is indicated by a blinking lamp on the front of the camera.
Self-timer operation is cancelable.
To save battery power, the Freedom Sightseer Zoom turns itself off
automatically if not used for three minutes.
The built-in quartz data back imprints the date or time right onto
each photo. Data imprinting can be switched on or off whenever desired, and is very useful
for cataloging photographs or keeping photo records of important events such as birthdays,
weddings, graduations, etc.
