High definition Broadcast quality video for the professional event
videographer, independent film maker, and serious amateur.
Building on the image quality of the award winning XL H1 model, the XH A1
High Definition video camera features three 1/3 inch native 16:9 1440 x 1080
CCDs with pixel shift technology to capture HD video at 1080i resolution. The
genuine Canon 20x zoom Fluorite and UD lens with 'Super Range Optical Image
Stabilizer' and 'Instant AF' auto focus is developed specifically for the
optical demands of High Definition capture. Meanwhile, the Canon DiG!C DVII
processor takes care of the huge data processing requirements that HD shooting
demands.
True 1080 High Definition image capture in selectable 50i or 25F frame rates.
The Canon XHA1 High Definition video camera records 1080 HDV video in selectable
25F or 50i frame modes to MiniDV cassettes. The inclusion of standard definition
recording and playback functionality facilitates an easy transition for those
who are new to high definition, and looking for a hassle-free upgrade path.
Genuine Canon High Definition 'L Series' 20x Video Lens with 'Super Range
Optical Image Stabilizer', 'Instant AF' auto focus and manual Iris ring control.
Canons status as the global number-one supplier of Broadcast lenses to the
television and film industry is clearly evident in the utilization of superior
optics in the XHA1. Featuring a Genuine Canon High Definition 'L Series' 20x
Video Lens which includes both fluorite and UD (Ultra-Low Dispersion) glass
elements, HD performance is achieved throughout the whole zoom range.
In addition to ring controls for zoom and manual focus, an Iris ring control
allows smooth control of depth of field and lighting while in Aperture Priority
mode. The inclusion of 2 built-in Neutral Density filters (1/6, and 1/32) also
allows for creative control in the harshest lighting conditions.
To help deliver smooth, steady video even at longer focal lengths, Canon's
'Super-Range Optical Image Stabilizer' uses two detection methods (gyro and
vector) to sense the widest range of vibrations from hand-held shake to
vibrations from a moving vehicle.
The need for fast and pin-sharp accurate auto focus in High Definition video is
realized through Canon's 'Instant AF' auto focus system. The system first
employs an external sensor to calculate the distance to the subject through
triangulation metering, and then uses contrast detection to fine tune the focus.
3CCD imaging sensor system incorporating 3 x 1/3" 1.67 Megapixel CCDs.
Three 1/3 inch native 16:9 1440 x 1080 CCDs with horizontal pixel shift
technology ensures the delivery of outstanding picture quality, highly accurate
color reproduction, and a wide dynamic range with virtually no color noise.
Canon DiGIC DV II processor developed specifically for high definition.
The DiG!C DV II processor, developed in-house by Canon, provides highly accurate
color and tonal reproduction needed for high HD image quality. A new noise
reduction system, combined with a new gamma system, helps reduce noise in
monotone and shadow areas. The fast processing speed of the DIGIC DV II chip
allows video and photos to be shot simultaneously. Furthermore, the processor's
low power consumption contributes to longer battery life.
Ergonomic and compact design with fold-away LCD screen and recessed battery
compartment.
The XHA1 is ideal for event videographers and independent film makers who seek a
compact, highly maneuverable camera. Designed in the pursuit of space efficiency
and operability, the fold-away 2.8" Widescreen LCD screen, recessed battery
compartment and optimum layout of controls make for a camera that is very
intuitive to use. Meanwhile, the understated matte black finish allows camera
operators to blend discretely in to the background.
2 channel XLR audio input with adjustable 'levels' control.
Built-in XLR terminals with mic/line level and phantom power, an external
microphone holder for attaching shotgun microphones, a voice-recording mode, and
two-channel manual audio level adjustment for precise control ensure camera
operators can have complete control over audio acquisition.
Customizable image control and handling characteristics.
The image, display items and functions of the Canon XH A1 can be uniquely
customized for different applications and users. Camera operators can finely
adjust a total of 23 image settings, including color gain, RGB independent gain
and 6-axis matrix. Users can store a total of nine image presets in the internal
memory, or to a Secure Digital (SD) Memory Card for exporting to other XH A1 or
XH G1 video cameras.
Users can fully customize the camcorder's display as well, matching the
preference of the shooter, or set up for a specific application. The camera
operator can hide or display up to 21 different items and they can also
personalize up to 20 custom camera functions. Users can save and read up to
three groups of settings from an SD Card.
Optional 'Canon Console Version 1.1' software and upgrade to 60i, 30F or 24F
frame modes.
Canon's optional Console Image Control and Storage software allows users to
remotely control the functions and settings of a camera that is crane-mounted,
in studio, or in an inaccessible location. Console software Version 1.1 will be
available as a free upgrade to owners of the original software while a trial
version is available as a download for new users.
For those wishing to capture video for both NTSC and PAL environments, an
optional frame mode upgrade is available. This adds 24F, 30F, and 60i frame
modes to the XHA1.
